The Artwork
Character is Beauty’ is the English interpretation of a popular (and one of my favourite) Yoruba proverbs- Iwa Lewa. The proverb encourages us to consider that beyond the superficial, beyond appearance, and beyond the facades. Who you are and what you do is your real beauty.
Proverbs have always provided a powerful means of communicating knowledge, experience, beliefs, and concepts. With the Yoruba people and culture growing worldwide, these proverbs, and others of African origin, are gifts to the world.
